- Description: The frame of the open fan in this photograph is formed by fretted wooden sticks, which have been painted pink and gilded. These are partially covered by pink muslin printed with flowers and trimmed with satin ribbon and lace. The closed fan is made of pierced and carved ivory, covered in white organdie. The fabric is decorated with a painted and stencilled flower design.
